Should directory submission be a continuos process??Considering that i m promoting a new site/blog,how long shoild i continue submitting to directories even if the site ranks well for the given keywords?Even if the site/blog gets good traffic should one still continue to submitting to directories? How long can this go considering no one has only one site to promote? Is there any end or limit to the directory sumission process for one site???

For me directory submission is a daily process where I submit my sites to new directories announced in this forum (and others) as soon as I see them.

Even if your site is ranking 1, you shouldn't stop because your competitors are still working to replace you :)

There is about 20 directories I submit to when I start a new website. After that I don't submit to anymore directories unless I find a quality niche directory here and there. It is a waste of time for most directories.

I think jitendraag is absolutely right. Even I submit directory in daily routine as I get them from any source. It is tough to stay on top if you quit such process which is useful for consistant output.

You always need consistancy when it comes to SEO. Directories, while not as important as high PR links, are still part of the mix.

Try to avoid submitting to too many directories at once. Start at a steady pace & just keep up with it. Concentrate on the more important links.

Yes, if you want the effort to pay off then you should do it continuously. Otherwise the effect will be short-lived.

What I do so I dont get burnt out submitting to directories or even blog commenting for that matter is I set aside one day on the weekend and work on my directory sumissions for about 30 minutes. I do as many as I can in a half hour then stop.
Once a week I also do this with blgo commenting. I think once a week keeps you from getting burnt out and looks more natural to the search engines. I only do a half hour cause that IMO is enough to do a fair amount of work and not be overloaded.
