Should customer service be part of online marketing?

Marketing usually refers to the part of work that you do to bring customer in, transferring shoppers to real buyers. However, with time passing by, this is getting harder and harder. It seems marketing should no long be the "before purchasing" work only since one-time purchasing will no longer be enough for any business. Keeping a good relationship with the customers and having them with you as long as possible also becomes one of your marketing goals, which means customer service and PR may be included.

What do you think? Should things like customer service be included in the daily marketing job? How to maintain a good customer service for the marketing goal?

You have a good point. The users who visit your site and eventually purchase from your link becomes your customers. You provide value to your "customers" through the high quality content that you post in your site. You should make it a point to respond timely to their emails to you, and respond politely regardless if the email is good or bad. You would want these customers to keep coming back to your site and to keep purchasing the products you recommend. Trust plays a huge factor here, so you would wan to work on getting your users' trust by providing them good customer service and user experience.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

I guess it really depends on what you are selling. If it's affiliate products then you probably won't have many customer service requests. But if it's something you own, you definitely need to communicate with your buyers and answer their before sales and after sales questions. I have a contact form even on my affiliate sites and being quick to answer to potential customers' questions as well as those who have already purchased a product is definitely good for business.

I would agree with Gianni. When it comes to marketing, a business only wants the best. As a business owner i would like to meet with someone face to face, or speak to them directly, not only through communication devices, so that i can get a feel of what marketing company i am about to purchase services from. So i would say that customer service is required for marketers so that they can better show the value and potential of the marketing company. This is why at AdMarketeers, our marketers are with you from start to finish. They provide customer care and public relations to our valued customers, so that we ensure they are receiving the best services.
