The notion of cruelty to animals can be selective. For some countries killing dogs and cats is cruel. And now the European Union is considering a ban on the import of Kangaroo meat from Australia:

I don't know much about Hinduism but I am so confused after reading some posts there are lot of different views and many Hindus don't even know much about their religion.

Anyways I had a classmate who is Hindu and he said that he doesn't only eats cows meat on fridays. Now what do you think about this?

If he is Hindu than if he eats on friday or any other it doesn't matter important is not to eat on any day e.g. if you eat little bit of poison on a bottle of poison, its same only.

Crazy! India is a secular country. Just because one religion does not approve of it, does not mean it should be banned? Islam is against the use of alcohol and Jains do not eat non veg. So should you ban these too because they hurt religious sentiments? If you don't like beef, don't eat. Who are you to say others should not eat Beef!

Because they are Islamic countries. India on the other hand is not a Hindu country for it to base its laws on the beliefs of Hinduism. For God's sake, it's a secular country!
