Yes, and I'm not referring to Muslims. I am referring to Sikhs and their right to eat meat only if it is Jhatka meat (may it be pork, chicken or even BEEF).
I was thinking whole 80% Hindus does not eat cow, but now i think if we divide Hindu into two (like catholic and protestants) it is 40% of total population of India who does not eat cow. is it mean for 40% of population, indian Gov should ban cow meet who is eaten by other 60%? come on India is BIGGEST secular country & also world's BIGGEST democracy country, they can not banned the food of 60% of their population
I also doubt that 80% of the entire Hindu population does not eat beef. There are at least small percentages of Hindu that eats beef.
no hindu eats cow its same as thinking " smaller portion of muslims eat pork does it happen no" hindus worship cow shiks worship cow yeah they too forbid killing and eating cow Jainism worships cow Buddhism worship cow pretty much every religion except islam in india worship cows so yes i am in favor of banning cow slaughter.
Then some of my friends in India are pretending to be Hindu. Cause they sure love to eat beef. Not at their home but whenever we go out or they visit our home.
you are saying they does not eat, Jakobe is saying they eat and Hindunism saying something else: In the Brahmanas at 1.15 in the Aiteriya Brahmana, the kindling of Agni on the arrival of King Some is compared to the slaughter of a bull or a barren cow on the arrival of a human king or other dignitary. Similarly, at II.1.11.1 in the Taiteriya Brahmana and XXXI.14.5 in the Panchavinsha Brahmana, the rishi Agastya is credited with the slaughter of a hundred bulls. In verse III.1.2.21 in the Satapatha Brahmana, sage Yajnavalkaya asserts that even though the cow is the supporter of everyone, he would eat beef "if it is luscious." At IV.5-2.1 in the same Brahmana, it is said that a barren cow can be slaughtered in the Some sacrifice. Not only for religious purposes, but also for other purposes one could kill a cow and eat beef. Thus at II.4.2 of the same Brahmana, it is suggested that a fat bull or fat goat should be sacrificed in honour of an important guest. Similarly, the Brihadaranyaka Upanishada (VI.4.18) advises a couple to take an evening meal of beef or veal pulao, if they desire to beget a son who is learned in the Vedas [Robert Trumbull, As I see India, London, 1957, p.241].
lol. And you are from Census to be that precise? and confident enough to say that you know full well that no one, not even one soul that follows Hinduism has not tasted or even ate BEEF in his/her entire life? I am confident enough to say that REGARDLESS of religion, may it be Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhist or even Hindus DO break the rules every once in a while.
Then Why Pork is banned for Non-Muslims in Democratic Islamic Countries(Muslim Majority but Legally Democratic) Shouldn't the Non-Muslims be allowed to enjoy Pork?
Non-Muslims enjoying every thing in Muslim countries, the alcohol, Pork, sex etc I dont know weather pork is banned or not, But it should be banned in Muslim countires because it is considered Haram. Where cow is not considered Haram in Hindunism. eating beef is part of their religion: In the Brahmanas at 1.15 in the Aiteriya Brahmana, the kindling of Agni on the arrival of King Some is compared to the slaughter of a bull or a barren cow on the arrival of a human king or other dignitary. Do you think banning beef in India for minority will be good? i mean there are Christan, Jews, Sikhs, Muslims and live who are more tahn 20% of total population who eat beef, and big majority of Hindu eat beef.
eating a cow is considered to be a sin according to hindu customs, the simple reason is cow is considered as "Go Matha" i.e "Cow Goddess". Eating cow is permitted only when he/she has no other option to take food. Eating bull isn't a sin according to hindu customs, only cow is banned for hindus to have a grab it, still people launder for it. And as I am an animal lover I would regret any large animal been consumed by any one - let it be pig r cow it doesn't matter for me.
@vebtools - India has a predominately agrarian economy and the importance of cow in any agrarian economy is paramount. as a mark of respect we Hindus avoid beef. In India muslims too, particularly those engaged in agriculture for their living, avoid beef. its out of the same respect. and it is not only beef but majority of Hindus avoid pork too. it has nothing to do with religion. Hinduism is a functional religion unlike Islam or Christianity which are theological religion. edicts dont work in Hinduism.
Are you a Jerk? As said before, Cow is considered as Holy in Hinduism. Cows are meant not to be slaughtered in India. They can be done in Pakistan No one gives a Rats Ass of what you do in your country. This tradition is followed for Thousands of Years by the people of India [Read Hindus] It doesn't get changed for Outsiders.
Check this out and tell me who is purposefully hurting Hindus ?? http://www.hindujagruti.org/news/9834.html
This "merely verbal dispute" (in logic) discussion makes me hungry for a beef steak. Get over it guys and just pray.
No beef at Commonwealth Games in Delhi I think every country has things where they draw a line. I would be personally offended if someone demanded a right to slaughter dogs or cats and eat their meat. It is a social taboo in the west but normal in some countries of the east. We should learn to respect each other's boundaries.
Cow skaughter needs to be banned. Perhaps some of the owners resort to it considering them as useless and worthless in cow's old age days. This is highly commercil view. The animal which fed you for so many years also needs to be looked after even after stopping giving milk. It is just like supporting our parents in old age. Keep aside religious belief of hindus. There are similar beliefs about other animals in other religion. Basically eating any animal is inhuman and should be banned.
