Should be able to report "reputation" comments

I had some newb come by and leave me some angry hatemail on the reputation system for me doing what another member asked in my thread. It's full of swearing. I should be able to report this to have it removed from having to stare at profanity when I log into my account, or be able to hide it at least. Reporting makes more sense, as I didn't realize people could go around leaving messages they aren't allowed to post publicly or PM to people, in the reputation system leaving the members no recourse. If I worked in a church, I'd probably be really upset right now. lol. But still, I can't have stuff like that sitting on my computer screen for my kids to read should they walk by while I'm tending to something AFK, there should be a way to deal with this but I don't see anything. If the user doesn't want to leave their name/username then you can't look up who left the message which doesn't help either. Also, might want to make new members read a positive thinking code of conduct to help the community thrive better.

Why let it bother you. Only you and poster know what was said. By posting this you have lost the upper hand and shown your vulnerability.

It doesn't bother me, made me laugh. Point of this section of the forum is to provide suggestions to better the community. There certainly are some people that are very bothered by profanity and wouldn't even come back if that's what happened to them. I find it quite a amusing. Thanks for the infraction, didn't have a duplicate thread, 2 completely different offers. But yeah, somebody asked me for a link, so not thinking it through I posted just what was asked for and time expired to edit it by the time I was back at my desk. Funny. Dumb, but quite funny. :)

Except you don't have one (I assume you are talking about this thread)?

Actually no. I just got a mild infraction for editing my post and linking to the main one. I had a review copy offer for my ebook in the cheap section for $5 and under. Somebody replied asking for the link to the ebook, it was 2am so was getting fuzzy and just edited the thread to include the link as per the member's request instead of telling them to follow my signature, not realizing until the morning after that I was then committing an infraction. I wasn't complaining, I'm truly glad for it so it didn't accidentally slip into more posts by accident. 1 infraction point now is a lot better than oh crap, I did that in 20 threads and running around trying to clean up the mess or whatever could happen.

We used to have the ability to collapse the Rep Comments section so we didnt see them at all. That was a handy feature for people that didnt like seeing what was on there. I was about to suggest the OP make use of that... But i checked and it isnt an option anymore. Did that feature get pulled from this permutation of VB, or is the option turned off in Admin?

Profanity might have it's place but IMHO not on (at least) this forum or even on the forum, but hidden in the reputation system. I agree that there should be some way to have it deleted or at least hidden by collapsing the Rep comments section.

I think it was collapsable in vBulletin 3, but not in vBulletin 4. Most certainly wasn't something we removed intentionally.

Just checked. Not collapsible at my place either, and it used to be. Guess VB decided that feature wasnt needed.

Oh well, it's not a big deal. I'd imagine if it's as few and far between as my experience, first time it's ever happened to me, think it's probably unlikely to become a problem. Just figured it would be a good spot to have a report link on so the mods have more to work with in keeping this a positive environment for everyone.

I'm not complaining about it, but when I got this one, since it was full of profanity and rude, I wondered why it isn't possible to report it. Nothing for me to complain about, it cost them red rep points and did nothing to my rating, so I'm happy for them. Figured the topic belonged in this forum, since it's for suggestions and feedback regarding the forum's systems. Everywhere else people can report when other members are breaking the rules, so I think it's a valid suggestion. If I were one of those types that gasps when a swear word is used turning the the bible to pray for salvation, I'd probably think less of the forums for allowing somebody to leave such profanity in my account and not be able to remove it. I myself, do not really care but I know that some people do.
