Should adsense put more focus on CPM (ads) like valueclick?

We all know adsense is a major PPC (CPC) company, but what if the google gods decided to turn adsense into a more a CPC / CPM company? Where not only will we get paid for clicks, but we'll also get paid for generating massive amounts of pageviews.

Not only would this help us boost our revenue, it could also bring a change in online advertising - since companies like Casalemedia have been running the CPM game for a while.

Adsense does however let advertisers advertise via CPM - but the ad payout isn't so good.

Remember that CPM ad industry is alternative to PPC. Neither replace each other and it has to work along.

CPM will never pay you at $10-30 per 1000 impressions since there is no gurantee for clicks. The whole idea behind CPM is advertisers take risk and pay less. In case of PPC, advertisers are more confident since clicks are counted and you know what you are paying for.

At the same time, if you know a site converting great. Advertisers can book a CPM ad and take benefit.

Hope that makes sense. CPC will never replace CPM or vice versa.

Ya, but isn't the CPM business even more profitable for publishers?

    It depends,
One of my sites get 25 uniques per day, I am generating low $x from it.

Would I get that with CPM? Heck no! I might make 0.10 if im LUCKY and stick up some pop ups as well as CPM banners.

I emailed G to turn off CPM ads on my account a loooooooooooooong time ago.

Their CPM rates are the worst I have ever seen, and i'm a publishers with quite a few CPM companies.

I'm saying though. What if your site was generating 500,000 daily pageviews - and adsense CPM rates were good and you were getting paid per click too. Wouldn't it be better to be paid via both?

CPM is only suitable for sites with low conversion rate, low CTR and of course low CPM on PPC network.

Its not suitable for sites with low impressions they can do lot better on PPC network.

Would it be worth placing CPM on a site with ~ 20k pageviews a day ... and if so approximitely how much would that number pay.

I think there should be CPM as well as CPC. I own a forum and CPM along with CPC or just CPM is best for me. And risk for publisherS? I am already using some CPM networks and they get a lot of clicks. More clicks than adsense gets.

I guess Mayank is right.. for a forum, CTR is horribly low.
There will some revenue if CPC replaced by CPM. For me, I am getting about $3 CPM from my forum using adsense only and planning to replace it with tribalfusion or VCM.

I dont get CPM anymore from adsense. The first month I used the big rectangle I got good CPMs but after the next month 0 CPM, but earnings still were same.

After this new thing where clickable area is decreased. Mine 1/3rd income has gone down lol.
