What if a site even has free in the domain name? If it had access to premium material would that be lying? Also, is one small link in the top left hand site advertising premium access to pushy? Would it be effective in getting buyers? For example, FreeGuitarVideos.com has a link in it's navigation box which advertises premium videos. Is that link annoying to viewers expecting free material only (Do they expect free material only?)?
aslong as you offer enough free products then there is nothing wrong with offering paid products.... just make sure there is plenty of free stuff
If there are free guitar videos on FreeGuitarVideos.com, then what's the problem. If it was OnlyFreeGuitarVideos.com, then maybe that would be different
We market one of our websites as being free and our website has both ads and paid premium content. You might was to create a how-to page and focus on how you can clearly explain to your visitors what is free and what is paid (and that the paid content is necessary in providing more free content). In general I think it comes down to the quality of your content. If a visitor says "wow there's a lot of good stuff here for free" then there's no shame in marketing it as free. If a visitor comes to your website and gets the impression that you're trying to sell them instead of help them, that might be a different story.
Yeah, I don't think it's wrong to advertise paid products on your Free website. Tons of sites do it everyday. It's just business.
Radio is free - but we have to listen to the ads. Same thing here. People understand it. Jeff Mulligan
I don't think its wrong....as long as free content on the website is good enough........maybe some people tend to pay for paid products after they think the free products is not good enough.....
