If you let the "exception" be rape cases.. you're going to have all kinds of women coming in accusing their one-night-stands and boyfriends of rape to do whatever they have to, to get the abortion they want.

Then we're going to have the republicans sending all these new "rapists" to the gas chamber, since they are of course, guilty

I don't feel my arguements are any weaker than "women are mean," GTech. Talk to bluemouse about that one.

Regardless of whether they are the exception or the rule, I still felt it was appropriate to mention them here. Besides, I wasn't denying the effectiveness of condoms, simply stating that there are MORE effective methods of birth control other than condoms. If you had read my post, you would know that I wasn't downplaying condoms - they are better than nothing at all.

Do you have to generalize that? Not all women are mean as not all men are pigs

Good idea! Then people could ironically scream bloody murder while pretending to care about the soldiers one day, then stab them in the back the next.

Or send them to palestine. They've developed a unique body armor system:

Oh, I'm sorry Bluemouse. I believe your correct terminology was "MANY women these days are mean."

    Moral equivalence at it's finest.

So it's fair to say you were against condoms before you were for them?

If I had read your post? You mean these comments denying the effectiveness you said you didn't deny?

    Alrighty then!

That's just one opinion, Bluemouse. Of course, your definition of "mean" probably differs greatly from mine.

I was never AGAINST condoms, GTech. I explicitly said in my very first post about them that they were better protection than nothing at all. Arguing that there are more problems with them than other forms of birth control, while still acknowledging they are better protection than nothing, is not being against condoms.

It's been the same consistent answer. Responsibility up front. If kids can spend months learning to drive a car, they can surely figure out how to slide helmet down over a soldier. And that's just the kids. There's plenty of irresponsible young adults that know better.

There is NO excuse for having reckless unprotected sex, especially when two people KNOW they do not want to have a kid. None. That's like putting three bullets into a gun with six chambers and playing Russian roulette.

Speaking for the baby: Reckless behavior on your part does not constitute a crisis on my part.

Adoption is another option. Responsibility for one's actions is yet another option.

you are only looking at this in respect to your own views. You do not even consider that people may varry from what you think is "wreckless" "irresponsible" "right" and "wrong"

mabye a little open minded thinking might let you actually weigh the options that both sides are presenting, instead of blindly trying to force your views onto others.

There is so much involved with the choice of abortion that you really need to take both sides into account, which is exactly what prolifers do not do. They think they are correct and that is the end of it. When in fact you wish to restrict basic human rights and the freedom to choose.

The only logical way to deal with abortion is let those that choose to get it, get it, and those who choose to not have an abortion, not have an abortion. You cannot try to change people, this only leads to restricted freedoms and then to the slow decay of the bill of rights and the constitution.

Not to mention, people have gotten abortions for thousands of years and will continue to do so. By making it illegal all you do is recreate the organized crime element and endanger the lives of the women.

This is not a political or religious battle as you prob feel, it is an argument for humanity, the right to a free life to choose how you will live and control your own life.

god......that just sounds like fantasy land to me. So there is some powerful diety watching all of us and he created this existance as well.

That is just a way for all human beings to deal with the fear of death, not truth. Merely a defense created out of the fear of non-existance.

god, that is just crazy talk.

    ....with all respect.

Yeah right, that'll work. I can't see there being a huge rise in abandoned babys and kids growing up in orphanages filled to bursting point, turning to crime and drugs and repeating the process all over again.

Condoms are not the answer, they're freely available now and people still have abortions.

It's been considered throught this thread, which I'm sure you have not read. Just dropped in for a "drive by" because you were bored. Who is only looking at it from "their" point of views?

Some people think it's open minded to murder babies. I see your open mindedness is shining through with flying colors. Apparently you chose my posts ONLY to express your open mindedness. Interesting...

Both sides? You mean the irresponsible parents and the innocent baby? I take the innocent baby's side.

Like the freedom for a baby to live? There is no restricted freedom for sex.

What about the lives of innocent babies? Go back and read the thread and note the lack of discussion regarding life and death. I'm sure you haven't, but then if your position is like others, you wouldn't respond to it. One could hear crickets chirping when the argument was raised.

Exactly, an argument for humanity. Murdering babies is not humane.

Thanks for the "drive by" post ;)

Heh, you actually tried to take it so far out of the context condoms were being discussed in, I thought you were serious there. For a moment :D

Agreed, some people actually try to portray that it's the baby's best interest they are concerned about when they want to murder them. It shadows their own shortcomings for being irresponsible.
