I think he do that because I said "arab-looking men didn't co-operate with the government" in the 9/11 thread.

I just wanted to say thanks Peanut. From what I can tell, you are the only one to even mention adoption (sorry if I missed somebody).

I am an adoptive parent. Believe it or not I am also pro-choice to a degree. I think using abortion as a form of birth control is wrong, but I feel once the right is removed it is a slippery slope until we are forcing a woman to continue a pregnancy even when her life is in danger.

I really dislike discussions about abortion because they always show how little consideration is given to the option of adoption in the US. It is such a great solution to the problem of an unexpected pregnancy. If a birthmother does not feel she can raise and care for child, she does not have to. If a couple can not conceive, they can still be blessed with a son or daughter.

Even when my wife and I made the decision to pursue adoption, I did not comprehend just how much I would love my son and now I can not imagine a life without him. I will always have the utmost respect and admiration for his birthmother who refused the advice of getting an abortion and instead brought an incredible child into the world.

Does anyone know how many children go unadopted? Or how many are currently in foster homes/government custody waiting to be adopted?

I have nothing against it, in fact I think it's great... but are there enough people willing to adopt?

A most welcome alternative! My wife's brother and his wife adopted. What a great story! Children are meant to be loved. I don't see how people can see children as a burden to themselves or society.

There are HUGE waiting lists for adoption. In fact, most people who want to adopt, are forced to adopt overseas (china) because the waiting list is so many years.

    I voted NO

    Some of my reasons:

    1. All of us have a choice and every choice that we do has consequences and everyone should really think about their actions.
    2. Being born is not the babies fault so why kill the cute babby.
    3. Its againts human nature and also againts the Cathoilic way (Im a catholic BTW).
    4. We are humans and its not good to kill our own species. It decrease our being human.

    etc..........

BTW this poll question I think is wrong!!! When will abbortion be aloowed to man??? LOL??

Well it's still better than making it legal to kill innocent people.

Were you talking about restricting a baby's "rights" to live, or their "rights" to be slaughtered?

You really are something else. When is a baby pronounced alive? When is it given a name? A social security number? Citizenship? Last time I check it was at BIRTH.....

And you're really want to talk about "right to live" when you're boys over there in Iraq slaughtering people while praying... and detaining thousands of innocent people in a torture prison that starts with "G"

Actually, legal abortion would is not only wrong. It would also give the economy a negative impact in the longrun as we get shortage of fresh labour. Therefore are yo-yo:s main arguments just trash.

Well it usually takes some days of administration before the baby gets some of those properties. Does it make it legal for the mother to kill the baby before the process are finished?

    Hmmm....
That's the most recent stats I could find (http://statistics.adoption.com/).. so according to this there are over 100,000 children without homes... how many more would there be after fanaticals restrict abortions?

Well people are shrinking everywhere in the western world due to extremly low birth rates. This have bad impacts on the economy in the short run. The civilisation should develop. Not invelop.

Also, dictatorships in the third world will do more as they want when the western world becomes more and more unimportant.
