Honey are you leaving me for my buff teenage son... I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks and while medically it wasn't messy it was still a real & wanted baby to me and my husband. Later I thought it was going to happen again and the relief at seeing that small orb pulsating (it was basically only a primitive pump) on the ultrasound was such a relief. It's good to know where you draw the line, but just as pro-lifers and pro-choicers will argue so will the people who try to define when life starts. When my brother died at birth my mother was allowed to see him briefly before the took him away. Now they'd let her have as long as she needed. But it's not that long since births at 28 weeks were considered miscarriages despite the fact that many premmies actually live. times change, feelings alter. But you'll never get everyone to agree
Yes, it does. You believe that abortion should be allowed with certain restrictions. And to play devil's advocate, you believe in "murdering babies", but just some times...
I don't believe it did: Understanding the rationale for extreme situations is not analogous to supporting the wholesale slaughtering of babies. Life begins with a heartbeat. It ends when the heart no longer functions. A heartbeat is life. If we can agree that the absence of a heartbeat is death, then the presence of a heartbeat is life, and in the overall argument, it comes down to whether one really cares or not. That's reflected in the varying positions taken in the posts of the thread.
That's because you've reached a level of maturity where you can put aside self gratification and care for (love) others - no matter how inconvenient!
I don't believe it's really about just maturity - more like where your priorities, values and goals are in life.
What if she'd been raped and is wan't yours? What if she was likely to die if she continued with the pregnancy? Shold abortions in cases like these be legal? Not all pregnancies are products of stable happy relationships.
Life begins when you are born. Do you celebrate the anniversay of when your children were fetuses and their heart formed? I'm sure you don't even know when that was, but you celebrate their birthdays every year. There are a thousand+ reasons a women would want to get an abortion and for you (especially being a man), to say that there are only 2 acceptable reasons for her to "kill a baby" is totally hilarious. Women that become pregnant after being raped are still carrying an innocent baby, so if you are going to stand up and scream "ABORTION IS WRONG" and "BABY MURDERER", you should decide were you stand. Right now you are saying that it's okay to murder babies, sometimes. Sounds kinda silly, no? The bottom line is that if a women chooses to have an abortion, that is her decision and none of your/my/our business.
life begins when the spermatozoon is fertilising the ovule when you are born you are already 9 months old! The term "conception" means "the point at which human life begins"
haha "The term "conception" commonly refers to fertilisation, but is sometimes defined as implantation or even "the point at which human life begins" and is thus a subject of semantic arguments within the abortion debate." Ooooookay. So it says that sometimes people refer to fertilization as "the begining of life". That really doesn't prove anything.
