No and you should stop watching movies. :)

The days of a government being afraid of normal sheeple, I mean citizens is long gone.

The right to bear arms hahahahah. Do you have a stealth fighter or an attack helicopter in your garage? How about cruise missiles, tactical nukes, or advanced combat weaponry?

No? Then why would the government fear some nut job with an AK-47. Please.

Our government is prepared to survive a nuclear attack from a state. They aren't worried about you, I or whoever doing any real damage to them.

It's not like the civil war when fighting was somewhat fair. If people revolted today, there's be a bomb from above with their name on it. :)

Movies and folklore aside, the government is a machine that will continue to run regardless of what common citizens think up.

That is a scary picture you have presented, what if anything do you think the people can do about it?

Thanks. You made my children cry.

Nothing like a cold face wash of fatalism to send me off to a peaceful slumber.

    LOL.

Sorry. I'll turn off the "realistic perspective" machine off.

    Everything will be just fine.

Of course it will. Let's just let those in power continue to make the world better for the common people :) They have our best interest at heart, right?

When I say government, I mean police, laws, rules, etc.
If there was no government people would go nuts, there would be total chaos. I know in your ideal little world everyone would behave, but in reality it would be a total cluster fuck. Laws and punishments keep people in check.

You got a historical precedent as corroborating evidence or are you merely projecting?

Did the word of God keep people from doing evil? I mean, isn't eternal damnation a pretty heavy punishment? Threats, fear and coercion don't work. And the means to punish is always used by the few to control the many, typically for their own diabolical purposes.

You will be surprised to know that many of us that are educated, self aware and compassionate, think we are perfectly capable of behaving ourselves without someone waving a stick over our heads.

Maybe you need that level of threat in order to feign morality. I don't. I'm a big boy. I don't need the government to tell me that killing and stealing are wrong. I also don't need to suck on the teat of entitlements and social welfare to get through life.
