Shorter title tags = better?

I've just been looking over my competitors title tags, and I've seen they have relatively short title tags in comparision with mine.

Is this a better thing to have implemented on your site because its more straight to the point, rather than blabbering on about whatelse can be found on the page etc?

eg: blah blah car name Car Wallpaper Pictures, Videos, Specifications, Reviews & Articles - ExoticCarSite.com

or straight to the point: blah blah car name Car Wallpapers & Specifications - ExoticCarSite.com

    ?

Thanks in advance for any input you have :)

Every word you add dilutes the value of title. Individual page titles should be page specific. I wouldn't put the name of your site in the title as it dilutes it and visitors aren't likely to do a search for it.

Agreed! Don't put your site's name in Title Tag. Because only if you have big brand name then and only then it is wise to put site name in Title tag. Instead you can use one more keyword.

long keywords dilute the 'Keyword Density' and 'Keyword Prominence' for the important keywords. Try to remove extra words from the title and keep it short. Place the more inportant ones towards the start of the title. Excessive repetition of the same word can get you penalised, like you have used 'car' thrice in the first title.

i must suggest you to look up for the domain age as well as that really plays a vital role... onpage and offpage factors are again very much important....

To me length of title does not matter, so if needed I can have a page with long title. But I usually use shorter ones as they are most suited for the page, and not because I need to keep titles short.

    My recommendations:

    1. Keep the title description short.

    2. In addition to the above, put your targeted keywords at the front of the title description.

    3. Have unique titles for every pages.
