I got scammed by shortd81 and I hope this thread will prevent you from making the same mistake. That guy is running a money exchange service here on DP and just took my money and delivered nothing but lies and excuses. It's been 2 months since it happened and, of course, he's ignoring all my messages.

You don't really expect something like this to happen, especially if you're dealing with someone with iTrader +50 and thousands of posts here, but I guess you can never be too careful.

Today's lesson: Make sure you check most of the posts of the people you're dealing with. You might find something interesting:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=2618904&postcount=23
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=2620060&postcount=24
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=2628320&postcount=34

...and, of course, high iTrader can trick you, you never know what's hiding behind all those pages:

I didn't leave him a negative iTrader cause I'd probably get one back (he already did that to other people) so getting scammed and getting a negative iTrader cause of that wouldn't really make my day...

This is a great forum. The only thing that bothers me it the fact that scammers are not getting banned. I know, we can't expect mods to check things like this, but maybe they could when scammers are not even denying what they did? This is more important than giving infractions for the "PM sent" posts...

Anyway, it's too late for me, I hope it's not for you,

    Cheers :)

Someone with almost 2K posts scamming?

That's a little strange. He'd be booted by now, no?

Looks like several people have had problems with him. Can't all be wrong.

i don't think mods gives infractions for scamming people, i think members need to be smarter, other wise they will get scammed!

if you have used paypal, then you can always ask for a chargeback!:)

Very possible. They could have just posted a lot.. just to build that "trust" illusion and then scam imo

It is strange. The fact that someone can just steal like that is strange by itself, not to mention the fact that it's done by someone who's active and well-known on the board.

Maybe a separate (sub)forum for threads like this one and warnings in general?

iTrader can trick you, people are/were getting points for stumble/digg exchange, $1 scripts/downloads.

you need to leave him a negative. that's what the iTrader system is for. if you don't leave him one you're defeating the whole purpose of iTrader.

No! Don't report it to the Mods...they don't care.

And I suggest you read the rules/FAQ before starting another thread like this.
