Someone, give me an advice how to make the links of my articles from the main Joomla page simple, such as mysite.com/articles/article1
    Now I have this - mysite.com/component/content/article/2-bushes/2-bushes-article

sh404sef and most other SEF plugins allow you to specify how your URLs will look. I recommend sh404sef because it is the best, but it is a paid component.

if you dont want to buy paid plugin, i suggest you to use Search Engine Friendly URLs setting in global configuration : admin page>>global configuration>>seo setting tab. change to "yes " value, to all.
rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess and configure it as you like.

That's not what they are talking about.

They understand how to simply enable Search Engine Friendly links...the real issue and request is how to avoid multiple directories if your link falls into several sub-categories...so if you owned domain.com and you had a joomla site with a category called news, and a sub-category called sports and a another sub-category called football...each post would look kinda like this..

    domain.com/news/sports/football/oh-my-god-those-chicago-bears-suck/ (a little humor..maybe..)

instead they are looking for ways to make it..

    domain.com/the-bears-suck

    etc.

I use and suggest Acesef joomace.net
    - They have extension support for everything out there or your can request a purchase of extension support.. They are fairly good and active but only free for trial... Sh404sef if you can still find a download used to be free... They were bought out and this company is a bit of a steal... They give no more support and charge A LOT. Acesef is not too expensive. Sh404sef you could find old free download or try free trial.
