If we have short keywords or common words like 'the' or 'a' in a keyword, and we put them in our domain, is it going to have any positive effect or would the ideal domain be the phrase without said meaningless keywords. ie: How to Get Free Soda howtogetfreesoda.com getfreesoda.com freesoda.com Which would be ideal for the keyword and if you chose something other than the first, how do you know which words to exclude. I'm a big believer in the fact that the keyword being the domain gives you a huge and almost irreplaceable advantage.
I would go for the third option simply because 'how' and 'get' are too commonly used words and won't give much advantage.
Depends on the overall subject, topic or niche of the web site, the audience it is trying to attract and the search queries being used to find it.
I meant if I was going for the search query "how to get free soda". Let's just say that I'm not at all concerned with any other keyword similar to it.
i choose getfreesode 'cos people search for how to get, where to get, why to.. so ideally getfreesoda fits everything. So, it actually depends on the product you are trying to promote.
i choose first one, because if you have a main subject and niche is giving the knowledge about the get free sode, then howtogetfreesode is the perfectmatch.

This is an ideal method for creating your own authority within google. Google wants an accurate index that branches off into specific niches. This creates less pressure on the general terms/authorites serps, in turn making mini competitive search result pages based on micro subjects. Making googles results generally more accurate for specific keywords/phrases and authorites. Google still does like to rank domain name specific keywords in its index. As long as this doesnt have an unfair impact on the overall result, taking into account other algorimic factors, that are also involved in google resolving results for a terms/pages in the serps. In answer to your question it does hold a lot of force still having your domain name the specific subject phrase. Using 'a' and 'The' is not important at this time as google associates and creates its own phrase variations you could rank well from your specific phrase and content on your page. Some say these sentence joining words are stop words that can have a negative effect on the way google determines the different terms you could rank for.
I think I would choose "getfreesoda" because I think some users of google recognize that the longer domain names are cheaper domain names (therefore less reputable). Best of luck!
