Hi all I am currently running setting up a shop running interspire (sales.spacioushost.com), however I'm sick of the shopping cart as most of my competitors are using it. So i'm looking for a cart that has that same nice feel to it whilst also having a great back-end. Anyideas?

Oscommerce is one i am using. I have found the back end of this shopping cart is very easy to use. Front end does have a nice feel.

Magento Commerce has tons of great features and a very robust backend - but the learning curve is high
OpenFreeway - is a osCommerce project fork and has a slick AJAX powered backend

Joomla! + VirtueMart also has a great backend and because the ecommerce (Virtuemart) is separated from the general backend it is much easier to expand.

Agree, magento is mainly for semi or dedicated server. It's due to the zend framework they use.

while I prefer open source apps like Magento, there is nothing wrong with interspire.

oscommerce is complete crap compared to either of them.

Have had OsCommerce for two years and I am now in the process of migrating all of my stores to OpenCart. Much simpler to use and doesn't break everytime you try and change something. We have one store with over 18000 products in it and it is very fast on a shared host.

You are sick of the cart just because your competitors are using it? If it is used so much, there must be a reason for that.

I am using Magento for some time now, and I think it very good tool. I did huge amount of customization on the server side and the client side.

    Cheers

Here's a screenshot from a highly customized cre loaded 6.4 b2b we just finished. We are very picky about back end usability. When you have employees working in the stores all day long (although not this one - this one was just finished), it needs to have a high level of functionality and simplicity. The front ends are simple enough to customize, a crappy back end ruins a script package IMHO.

SpaciousHost, have you managed to make a decision yet? What kind of products do you plan to sell - is it hosting plans or something else?

im really surprised that you don't like interspire - i find it to be one of the best "paid" solutions out there for e-commerce
