I might as well post the same thing everyone else did. There's a similar thread about this tragedy located here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=300757
I'm a student here at VT. What's happened is terrifying. Don't blame this on security. The incident that happened at the beginning of the year had nothing to do with Virginia Tech. Some crazed nutball who escaped custody and shot an officer took cover on the edge of our campus. They canceled classes that day as a precaution but that's it. This is unreal. Nothing could have prepared us for this. It's extremely sad, I never expected anything like this to happen to me.
Unfortunately no. Everyone on campus knows just as much as anyone who is watching CNN right now. West AJ is the dorm beside mine, I didn't hear anything though. I woke up at about 9:30 when I heard 5 or 6 police sirens at a time and a megaphone screaming a warning message over campus. The worst part is that almost everyone is having problems with their cell phones. Id assume the lines are just completely flooded right now but I haven't been able to get in touch with my family for the past 5 hours.
I first heard news and i was shocked, Its really strange, killlings in america?? SOmething of this type of action is gonna happen in Islamabad, Pakistan ...
These types of things happen often in America. They are usually the work of psychopaths, not politically motivated individuals. But there are exceptions, such as happened in Oklahoma City over a decade ago. Fox News now reporting 32 dead.
Well there goes the 2nd amendment with another act of human violence. Several people are still in critical condition, I am hoping all of them can be saved.
Fuck the second amendment. This shit has got to end. The 2nd Amendment is an anachronistic law that has become a joke in modern terms. Come on, people in other developed countries don't allow guns, and they get along just fine. Don't be a redneck. Sorry, but this shit makes me so depressed and angry.
The fact that almost all college campuses don't allow students to carry firearms didn't stop this. Those laws usually only stop people who go with the flow--right to their own slaughter.
guns don't kill people....people kill people...I grew up with guns in the house, I have guns in my house, and my kids will get the same training I got, which is a hunters safety course, and a demand for respect by my parents...want to blame it on something? Blame it on the parents and lack of education.
The guy had to be very heavily armed I suppose, that's an awful lot of people killed only with a pistol...
From an IM conversation. I believe what I said to be true. A government that allows no firearms is a government that has no fear. Instead the people fear the government. This isn't how it should be.
