Shoemoney gets extorted by corrupt DMOZ editor for $5000

I personally had a run in with a few editors today. The whole works minus one person (Lets name him Curt) were frankly a complete bunch of childish idiots who attempted to divert the attention off of the scandal and on to me using words like "sit on a couch" and ignorant gender based statements being a female. Fathom was one of them defending the oh so virtuous nature of DMOZ editors , RobJones being another. What a bunch of douchebags.. I had simple questions to begin with and they made typical defensive move. Turned on me in a pack suggesting I was incorrect and that I was a bad person to take the heat off themselves. What a joke. Dmoz is a joke. It's a bad directory full of bad sites that were paid inclusions and seriously technologically outdated. The fact that all these other company's use them is beyond me. I think a human edited directory is a mistake to begin with. Too much room for error / fraud . I think a true directory is in order. One giant robot system scouring the internet for valid links / sites and make it use a .txt file for all the information for addition and the bad submissions / spam / one removed later by hand of some trusted sources fairly.

For now I'm pretty sure being on the front page of Digg, my site, and many others is going to have a serious impact against DMOZ. Those editors who slammed me today for asking questions all use one defense. Shoemoney's disclaimer. It's blantantly obvious all that is is a mechanism to cover his @ss in case DMOZ or AOL tries to sue him for telling the truth. How sad.

 

Actually is all that bad talk that keep it up at it's current PR... kind of like a huge vicious circle. The more we (webmasters) complain, the more that high page rank is maintained. I hope upon hope Google will be able to tell complaints from praise some day...

 

Of course you do Julian, I am surprised you would even ask that question You claim to be an editall which means you have made thousands and thousands of edits. You protect corrupt editors because you are too scared to expose them because you might lose your precious login. You have previously explained how much "ass kissing" you had to do to get your editorship.

Qryztufre on the other hand did not support the ODP. He stood up for what he believed in, said what he felt was wrong, clearly and explicitly. He quit of his own choice. He wasn’t scared

After all, an editor saying there are corrupt editors is against the guidelines of the project. The directory needs to change to survive, it is an anachronism in its current form. That’s generally accepted by many now from category editors through to staff. Rather than quitting in a snot you could have been part of the solution.

Yep there are corrupt editors. We even have guidelines on how to deal with them, they have been removed regularly since 1998. If someone claimed that there was no such thing they would be total moron.

Julian is the expert at ass kissing you would need to ask him about that. There is also a wider acceptance that following along like sheep achieves little and that new and different things need to be considered.

 

From the looks of things I'd have been labeled a corrupt editor and let go. My being part of the solution is to educate others about how the project is ran, as now my hands are washed from being within an ancient and corrupt machine of automated CNN links and child porn *smirk*

nebuchadrezzar link selling business is going down. The eyes are on the listings and people see the cheaper price in scriptlance and don't want to pay nebuchadrezzar's previous high prices. He blames me for destroying his DMOZ business.

 

I've had Gdope on ignore for some time now.. Once and a while though, I will see him quoted.. Boggles the mind that this guy is still here.

Most of what he says in the DMOZ threads is useful. You guys just spend too much time in Politics and Religion or General Chat. I don't know how anyone stays sane in there. I wouldn't last 30 seconds.
