You need to wait a least a week to see if your theory is working, Gloria. Don't forget that most auctions run for 7 or 10 days, so even if someone bids on a yacht, they won't win the auction until it is over. Only at that point do you see any revenue. I'm very curious as to whether your method will earn ... keep us updated.
Yeah, I kinda noticed that after re-reading that a couple times.. Seems like a lot of work for the low payout... I suppose if you get one big ticket item it might be worth it.. But beyond that, doesn't that just fill Craiglist (which is already pure clusterphuck) up with more crap links?
OK.. I figured I'd give it a try.. Two questions: how often do the stats update? When does AA get it's own sub-forum here in the Affiliate forum?
They update as fast as CJ updates. I doubt they get their own forum anytime soon. There has to be a lot of threads about a company before Shawn will give them a sub-forum.
Yea im just kind of testing a theory out to see if it works in the long run, it does bring in about 100 uniques a day to my website at the same time so hitting two birds with one stone. If I could post say 1000 posts per day to forums, classifeds, and other places I would go that route just to get the traffic and members up on my little ole website. How often does CJ Update?
My experience is that CJ updates it's ebay program every few hours. At least that was how it was a while back. What's important to note (and something that is overlooked or just ignored by people all the time) is that earnings will not be updated until an auction ends. Lets say you send a user to an auction which ends in 5 days. Well even if he wins that auction, your earnings will not show in auction ads until that auction ends and CJ updates. That being said, it is not uncommon for a click to be profitable days down the road while giving nothing the day of the click. The only exception to this rule would be auctions ending the same day and "Buy it now" purchases.
we get our stats differently then the traditional cj reporting mechanism. As stated about 4 pages back (I know long thread) New users signups are about 4-5 hours delayed revshare from winning bids/ buy it now and other actions report 2 days after the action completes.
Doesn't the new sign up have to win an auction/buy it now before an affiliate receives income from that person? If that's the case, all income will be delayed by 2 days or so?
Its a wild mess... and when you think you understand how one country works there are 13 others that work it completely different. Thats why we dont get to specific on reporting to keep it simple. I am not positive on if acrus have to complete a action that would be a good question to email support
A couple years ago, eBay only required a new sign up to bid on an item. They had too many people making new accounts and bidding on high priced listings when they first started... ie a computer that has a starting bid of $1 when it first starts. Bid on it, get outbid, then make the $20 for the new account. They then changed the requirement making new users to actually when an auction/buy it now before the commission is paid. Makes sense for eBay... means less fraud. I'm sure there is still fraud going on with affiliates buying .99c items, but it has to be less prevalent. At least that's how it is in the US program.
Hmm the reporting looks odd for today. I just checked "forever" with no channels selected, and I see this. 04/30 <aggregate> 1543 17 1.10% $40.86 Wow, $40 from one day. Then I went to see which channel it was, so selected all and ran the report again, and it shows this: 04/30 <none> 0 0 0% $20.43 With no revenue from the other channels. So I have no idea what's going on. I did contact support but I thought I'd see if anyone else here had figured out this <none> channel thing. What does that mean?
Very nice - thanks for the credit Jeremy. It seems right on and very reasonable. Congrats on a job well done, getting though a tough situation.
So do we need an account with CJ first before signing up for the Auction Ads? If so, how is that implemented in the code? I don't get this part. Seemed really easy to sign up, but I don't understand the tracking system. Can anyone shed some light on this part? Thanks!
No, you don't need to join CJ. Consider AAs like CJ, but just for Auctions. They track everything, similar to adsense, CJ, etc.
Awww I thought I had my first earnings then but it was the bonus Still, better than nothing! btw, is it possible to set a minimum payout? After paypal takes it's fees there's not going to be much left of my bonus
Minimum payout is $10 and is automatic. No way to change that as of now. Payment file was just processed about 3 clicks ago.
