ya i can definatly see why that doesnt work When in doubt search ebay with the exact string and see what comes back.
Not really what I meant. Discussing ways to use the system is testing. Trying it for a week then claiming AdSense performs better in general makes no sense. My point was that different things work for different sites. Questions like "which will work best for me" are only answered case by case. Ty
Hi Shoemoney, I now realise what I was doing wrong, so I decided to delete the site-wide ad and instead I bunged a banner onto an astrology page, and used the direct "astrology" KW. I double-checked ebay, and I get lots of matches, but looking at my page I now get PS3 software and cables! Thanks for all your efforts. http://whatjapanthinks.com/2006/05/08/astrology-big-in-japan/
Yes, I noticed that on your site. Had a few refreshes in about 40 odd minutes and still seeing ps3. I had a similar query for a singer on mine and did not get anything after 3 hours of refreshing. Tried a WWE ad and that one did work. Am not sure if this is due to some caching requirement (ie # of queries) by AuctionAds backend.
On the topic of keywords my ads are doing strange things now. I've got "ps3; 360; wii" as the keywords and yesterday it was ok but now I'm getting toy cars, ipod accessories and a few things like boots, purses etc
The unfortunate thing in all this discussion is that the stats are completely hosed due to eBay tracking right now. All discussion of conversion rates and EPCs is almost completely invalid It will be fixed and made right, but we're at the mercy of eBay right now. Edit: Chris369: Type '360' into ebay as a search. Not a very good keyword.... use xbox 360.
It's the refresh issue. On first visit, I saw cables and ipods. F5 and it showed astrology related items. Any reload for the next 10 minutes will show astrology, but if no one visits during that time it will default back to cables. Does the eBay/CJ feed do the same thing?
No, the Ebay system of ads will show the relevant ad all the time. I was forced to use their system because of the 10 minute refresh thing with auctionads. Because my sites are new, they don't always have a visitor every 10 minutes so there will be irrelevent ads, and I can't afford that. I think auctionads is a great idea though, there ads are also much more attractive in terms of the photos, the ebay ad photos are very blurry.
My current stats: Earnings: $0.52 Impressions:184255 Clicks: 874 Referrals: 0 How do these compare with everyone elses tests ?
There has been a problem with Ebay tracking since 4/7. AuctionAds sent everyone am email about it. I just blogged about it including the email describing what will happen to re-imburse affiliates once things are fixed. EBay on CJ - Tracking Problems Since 4/7 Not Fixed - AuctionAds http://affiliate-blogs.5staraffiliateprograms.com/2007/04/20/ebay-cj-tracking-problems-auctionads/
Question for who ever is using this affiliate program as I signed up and could use some help in some ideas that been running through my head. This is what I was doing first searching ebay for high end items that had alot of bids already and then getting the ebay url and then going to auction ads and getting the url converted and then I would go to craigslist and hand submit the item. The items I have been trying this out on are high end cars and real estate, so lets say florida land with 10 and above bids on a house that is over $500,000 , i then created an ad on craigslist for that same house and setup a url redirect from one of my sites to the ebay ad. Because craigslist does not allow you to go from there site to ebay auctions. But the problem im having is its taken hrs to submit these this way is there an easier way to do this entire process and does it make sense to just do the high end items or to figure out how to do this with all ebay ads that have alot of bids on them already? There must be a system that can bring in like $100 a day doing this after ebay fixes everything again. Im getting impressions and clicks just not showing any earnings yet. And i need a way to automate this more. So whos up for brain stroming session?
1 thing to keep in mind is I think houses and cars have there own private structure. Some really good niches are coin collecting, watches, and higher end stuff like that which have the same revshare.
Glad to see your still posting here Shoemoney.. any chance I could ever so slightly divert your attention to this thread? Right here Just seems to me auctionads doesnt seem fit to me. I posted a lot earlier in this thread too, though I dont think you replied.
If you would like to send me your publisher information I will look into your account. As posted on the blog and emailed out to all users eBay has had tracking issues since the 7th. However even with that said I cant find anyone in auctionads doing anything close to the conversion ratio you posted above. In fact a conversion ratio like that would trip our fraud detection because frankly it just is not possible with legitimate traffic (unless its in a very strange country which we do not support). Anyway if you send me your publisher id I will look into it. (also as mentioned previously please email support if you have questions/concerns)
I'm using Auction Ads on my site. It's been only a few days but i hope it contributes to my income. will let you guys know.
I've just put it on my gaming site, I think it should work quite well on that. Would be nice if someone bought a PS3 through clicking my ads To people at Auction Ads - have you considered making a new "ad" format available? I say "ad" because I'm thinking more of an eBay listing format. So we can have an auction page on our site that lists say 25 auctions that are ending soon related to our keywords. What do you think?
We have a few things in the pipe that will be launching soon. That is great feedback though I will send it in.
