Whenever I am browsing around my forums, I usually see a link called "Ebay", and I looked at the link and was of course, Shawn! Anyway, I wondered what what the link popularity for this was, and I remember this page being ranked pretty high on google for the term "Ebay", but now I can't find it. Will the co-op network help our sites in google after seeing these results? I'm hoping they do, because that's the search engine I am mostly interested in, as I already have MSN/Yahoo down. Google: 0 Yahoo: 0 MSN: 206660 Alltheweb: 483000 Altavista: 0 Hotbot: 0 Ask Jeeves: 15 Total: 689675
Well, in that page's source is this: <META NAME="GOOGLEBOT" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW"> which keeps it from being indexed, but I'm not sure whether the page was banned and then this was added, or if this was added and then deindexed as a result. I don't believe that the coop helps with ranking in google though.
At one point shawn was ranked fairly high for ebay registration (1 & 2) and was climbing for ebay. Then, all of the sudden, the page hit the grey bar on the google toolbar, and shortly after that it was deindexed. I'm not sure if Shawn put the noidex tag for googlebot on it after the grey bar or not.
