Shawn, Rid these RIDICULOUS Infractions

Fair enough. I'll cop it on the chin and I will be a bit more careful I suppose. I just hope this is not to the detriment of DP.

 

So what the use of red reps and infractions?? if there is no reviewing at all. I know practicall its not possible as well but there should be a system where something can be sorted out. I am not blaming you or anyone but most of the time member's use their reputation power for sorting out personal issues. so their should be a check on this. I know i am wasting my time by discussing this issue as nothing will be done but i love DP and i accepts my mistakes which i had done no probs in that but was i really bumping that much ?? anyway i will never do that again but rules need to be clear for each and everyone and their should be some rule for checking members reputation power.

 

I think, in "Buy/Sell or Trade" section - bumping should be allowed only after 72 hrs, this can minimize loads of similar threads. After all its for marketing your product.

 

Personally, I don't think they are "trigger happy" ... Otherwise half this forum would be banned and it would be renamed seochat.com

People complained about the number of bumps and worthless posts constantly....So now people who are doing that get gently reminded of the rules...no ban...no public outing...just a reminder.

I don't think you should be taking this out on Mods who I know from experience work pretty hard (except Rob who's always sleeping) for very little.

 

I donnt beleive u got any infraction... did u ever had red reps nothing seems like that by your reputation power.

 

If all the people that love to bump their threads every day go away this will sure be a better place.

Since the infraction system was brought here the quality of the threads has increased A LOT.

i was myself RED for 4months in the beginning - when i posted crap and used to fight against seniors.
Just dont Bump your own threads or friends threads wantedly and you are also good
Also you cannot expect the MODS to review every thread in this forum.
Think about it.

I probably get more reds then you do but I have posted a lot over the last couple of years and the amount of greens have more then balanced them out.

 

I can tell you why Shawn wants them, because it has become plain that people around here, even some old timers are posting for signature links and really are patting each other on the back to keep the signature link train rolling (sort of like the rep game developed around here too) and that is not what a forum is about!

Digital Point in the early days had intense threads with great subject matter and serious subjects were discussed all the time and there were fun threads too in GC, but it has got to the point where members and that includes old timers are just spamming the hell out of any hot thread.

I don't blame management for trying to control it a bit.

I need to have coaching from you regarding the art of getting green reps as u seems to be having the most in DP. Anyway i badly need to learn that considering the amount of red reps i have. I am serious and expects a bit of tips from you. Is there any crash term course .

i know when i started threads on Reps and got good gifts
So think about that again.

Yikes!! It's been a month since a reply!! I think I'll *bump* it!!!! Add that with 50 others like that and you got chaos. That reminds me...I got to go bump that thread!!!

 

I've hard of "bashing the bishop" but never "bumping the thread"

 

I like the new system. When I come on here I go to my CP, read the posts that I'm subscribed to and then I go to 'new posts' people bumping their own threads and making useless posts make the process of wading through this section very time consuming and unproductive. I've noticed an improvement since it was brought in so I say keep it! There's too many people that think a high post count seems to count for something and make using the forum more difficult for those of use that use it for the purpose it was intended.
