Shared IP Address

    Hi,

I'm just wondering, does sharing IP addres affect ranking of websites? I'm just starting to build a number of pages, but it seems to be very hard to get a pagerank.

I had a site, adsensecheats.com that got quite a number of inbound links, but after one or two months wait, the pagerank still shows zero.

So, i thought probably it was penalty from google for using their trademark in the domain.

I change the domain to cheatad.com last month, use 301 redirect, and start to get some incoming links.

But the pagerank still has not moved from 0

Now I'm start wondering, is it because of the shared IP? (Yes, I'm cheap. I use the cheapest hosting I could find. But if getting my own IP address is so important, I'll get it.)

    Thanks

The toolbar pagerank updates very rare and the last update was in March (?)
probably thats why you haven't seen an update.
Theres no penalties for hosting your domain on a shared ip unless you host a lot of domains on that ip and interlink them.

They do affect if you have 100 sites of your own from one IP and you link to one site to boost its ranking. These links will have less weightage.

Again, for any change in pagerank to be seen, you need to wait till next google update.

They wonnt effect until and unless any of the website hosted in shared IP is engaged in certain spam or black hat SEO.....

It will always be advisable to go for dedicated IPs in case you need to promote a website.

So, if out the 100 over sites hosted on that IP, just one spams search engines, all the sites will get affected?

    thanks.

yupz... it really affects in ranking your site. that's why you should share ip with same marketplace.

It has no effect at all. Unless all your links come from the same IP.
