Shared hosting affect SEO

    My site is currently hosted on a shared server. I'm considering bumping up my plan which would get me my own IP.

    - Is it possible that my rankings might not be as good as they can be since I'm on a shared server?

    - When changing to a dedicated IP address, will they change have a negative affect on my rankings?

    I have seen google reduce ranking when changing IP. However you should be able to pickup to where you are now in one week.

    The biggest advantage of having your own IP is that you will not be banned if someone else is penalized.

    I didn't see any increase in rankings by switching to a dedicated IP, but as sadcox66 said, you don't have to worry about getting your IP banned because of some spammer.
