i think that's a good plan of attack, i like to see where my competition has their links coming from and make sure i put links in the same spots..

1.Purchase a Few high pr domains in your niche
2. Link out to your money site using exact anchor text.

Now to build more conservative links such as

web 2.0
social profiles
pdfs
etccc.

use 10% of anchor your main keywords and 90 % variations.
this will keep you safe from penguin and also allows you to be more aggressive when linking out using your k.w on these high pr sites you bought.

 

I had a great deal of success writing a plug-in for a popular script and giving the script away so long as the users site left a link to my site in the footer.

 

Also, avoid less quality links they are not helpful these days, I would say.. build only quality links for better result from your SEO works.

 

Well, I use all the methods of link building but I use only quality sites as spam sites don't work now a days.

 

Now google favours social media marketing more than anything else. If your blog gets a good amount of likes, retweets and +1's, you're sure to get on the top.

 

Well, I target low competitive keywords and I do directory submission, it works for me...
