Lets start this thread and talk about SEO, you can share what worked and what didnt work for you. In this way its easier to compare your work with others. For me what best worked is: -links in signatures of forums -blogs posting -sharing links with other moderators What didnt work is - I put my links in almost 100 directories. This didnt seem to work good.
When it comes to SEO, it is really hard to pinpoint one thing that works or doesn't work. To make a site well-optimized, you need 2 elements, one is the on-site optimization and the other is off-site SEO. The on-site SEO requires good keyword research and placing the right keywords on the right pages at the right places. Internal links from page to page are important with the good use of keyword-rich anchor text. Fresh content is important as well to keep Google interested in your site. Off-site SEO mainly involves link building. All the mentioned techniques have some impact. It is the sum of these links, not an individual one, that makes the site rank well. Forum links, directories, blogs, etc all have some SEO effects.
Great info mpls-web-design. Thanks for sharing. I think in SEO the most important is patience. Keep building links and just wait
SEO is not a simple task that anyone can do. Its an art. You should have lot of patient to do SEO. You should gather information, analyze, implement, control and evaluate to become great SEO. When we talk about link building forum signatures helps me a lot. I also prefer social bookmarking.
what worked for me posting links in forums. posting blog comments on dofollow blogs (preferbably high PR)
What worked for me was: Forum Links Blog Commenting Press Releases Article Marketing Ultimately though, its all about testing and finding out what works for you and your site. Test, test, test.
Seo is a big guess .Nobody knows how it works .For me social networking works great .Traffic exchangers are complete waste of time .
Well, we know the most important, links and meta tags and keywords in the page. For the rest I dont know... Digg works great, you are right, but you need so much friends to make something on page 1... I have never done it.
Maybe not THE most important......I believe that its 33% of SEO, I believe each of these should get equal weight: 1) a well worded Page Title and simple domain name. (key words up front) 2) content that contains your same KW as title tags, within % guidelines 3) external links with anchor text, from high PR sites that use do follow.
For SEO, the main thing that has helped me is backlinks - as most people know. I usually like to get some articles written for me, then submit some to article directories (via article marketer), and then some I leave as original content, submitting them only to one article site (especially ezine, and goarticles). I then usually like to buy a couple high PR links, from relevant sites if possible. Commenting on any relevant blogs, squidoo lenses, etc. Making other sites that have relevant content, and using Blackhat techniques to get tons of links to the other sites, with them linking to my main site. Bookmarking is awesome, I love using book marking demon. Then of course you want all the pages on your site to have good clean content, and make sure they are all linked together. Make sure on every page you have a link back to your home page. Other than a few other simple things, that's basically the routine I follow and it works well!
SEO is not a simple job. her work is relate witn creating back links. it requires good keyword research and placing the right keywords on the right pages at the right places.
you are exactly right. i agree with you. if we do great work in on page optimization then our mostly work will be done in seo. and off page optimization is support to stay in SERP, for PR, good backlink.
I dont agree comletely. There are sites with good on page SEO but will never make it to top positions cause have less backlinks. Everything is important, for me both things are equal.
