Thought this would be a good way to learn a bit more about each others religions. Just share a few pics about your religion and a short caption to explain.

    I'll go first:

    Sikhism

Sikhism has 3 fundamental elements to it... First one is 'Earn a honest Living'. Hence picture of the First Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji doing manual Farming labour.

Second element is to 'Remember & meditate on God'. All practising Sikhs will recite at least 7 prayers a day. 5 in the morning, 1 in the evening and 1 at bedtime. Photo is of a Sikh man singing hymns using a harmonium.

Third is to 'Share what you have with others'. Sikhs should give at least 10% of their earnings/time to charitable causes. This photo shows the free kitchen that is open to anyone at all Sikh Gurdwara's across the world.

Hope that has been informative... Now someone else's turn :)

    The Ka'bah

After the evening prayers, pilgrims make their way to Muzdalifah, another massive plain. Three million pilgrims spend the night here, under the stars, with no tents or other covering. People stay close to their groups and their guides so they do not become lost in the multitudes of people. Hajj is one of the best examples of how humans regardless of race, sex, language or status, can live without discrimination.

Looks like you believe in swiss cheese there Jackuul. The fact is, until you have tasted Old Amsterdam Gouda, you will never know God.

It would be interesting if you could take a gay rights parade straight out of San Francisco and through it into that mix. I'm guessing you would not see the best example of people living without discrimination.

Granted a gay rights parade doesn't belong there, but if they suddenly found themselves there, I wonder how many would make it out alive.

He walked away, it's quite a famous story. The photo was taken by Kevin Carter and he received a Pulitzer prize for his work and committed suicide shortly after because of what he see there.

The thing is, He was a journalist. his job was to report on the facts and create awareness of the issues. If someone whose job is to take photos stopped to help every starving child they encountered in Sudan at the time there would never have been any news or any photos to raise awareness.

You may disagree with him walking away, But in reality he done far more to help than anyone else on this forum.

I remember spending 2 nights in Amritsar in India at the Golden Temple and we had a daily free meal, pretty basic fare but it was a great experience. They fed hundreds of people a day. :)

I remember the marble floor around the temple was very hot in the midday sun too lol.

I had a great time there even though I am not religious at all. Have you been there buddy?

I was brought up JW, left them 13 years ago, can't stick them now.

This image shows the Cross and Crown, top left corner associated with 33rd degree freemasonry:

The term Watchtower is also an occultic reference, with roots in Enochian Magick.

This is one of the JW's first books written by their founder, Charles Taze Russell, notice the Winged Sun Disk on the front cover, this is another freemasony symbol:

The same symbol appears on another book by the same author: The Divine Plan Of the Ages.

This is the Watchtower Bible (Babel) & Tract Society Pyramid where the founder of the Jehovah's Witnesses is buried, who was also called the Seventh Laodicean Messenger, notice again the Cross & Crown carved into the stone, which Charles Taze Russell instructed the building of.

This appears on the four sides of the Jehovah's Witness pyramid, underneath it the words are inscribed, Watchtower Bible Tract Society, this was built in a cemetary plot owned by Charles Taze Russell. Many leading high degree masons own parts or whole cemetaries. This one is located in the freemasons hq in Pennslyvania (Allegheny).

    This is the inscription:

And another image of the same:

I should point out that Charles Taze Russells headstone is actually situated just behind this pyramid.

If you search for Charles Taze Russell Pyramid via google, you'll find lots of very good information about the roots and history of the Jehovah's Witnesses.

Too, you can check out http://www.FreeMinds.org which provides excellent research and advice into the inner workings of this particular sect famous for it's brainwashing techniques and immense emotional cruelty that goes on within it's ranks. (All well hidden away, of course, they wouldn't want you gentiles to see that now, would they? You bunch of goats! (Their words not mine).

Further info specifically related to psychological issues can be found more indepth right here: http://freeminds.org/psych/psych.htm

Think the figure is actually closer to 10,000 a day who partake in the langar (free kitchen) at Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) Complex.

And yes, I've been fortunate enough to stay there 4 times. I just find it an absolutely amazing spiritual experience. Glad to hear you enjoyed it too.

Yeah I had a great time, I was on a three month tour of India and was working my way from Delhi to Shimla onto Manali/Vashisht (Himachal Pradesh) to Dharamsala for the Dalai Lama (we visited his residence but the fook wasn't there :() then onto Amritsar back down to Delhi and on to Agra (Taj Mahal) then onto Hyderabad and onto Hampi, Goa then up to Mumbai to fly back to Holland where I was living at the time.

It was great fun, India is an amazing country, from the beauty of the Indian Himalayas in the North to the beautiful beaches of Goa in the South West. :)
