No surprise really - has not played much cricket last few years bcos lots of injury

he always did well against Australia with very high strike rate

Probably never quite got to reach his full potential bcos injury

Maybe Brett Lee should also retire soon......

Its sad to hear that he is leaving, but I know it would come sooner or later.
He has spent too much time on the sidelines injured and then recovering from injuries only to get injured again. Also the amount of cricket being played these days did not help his cause.
Anyway I wish him luck in whatever he undertakes after retirement...

You are spot on. With so much cricket being played these days, players find it tough to maintain top physical condition, making them injury prone and thereby shortening their professional sporting life! No wonder I suddenly find lot many cricketers taking retirement... so early in their life! :(

Well that's sad news, thanks for the update RightMan, just read the cricinfo article you gave the link of.
Well I don't know what kind of people are brought in the Newzealand Police, 'cause Bond was previously a part of them. I don't think policemen get injured that much.
Well, he was a fast bowler, and like all fast bowlers he took his retirement at an early stage; not all bowlers are like McGrath.

But still, according to me Bond played a good part in the Kiwis side and I specially remember his performance in the last years Natwest series; he bowled superbly well. Sad news of him going home, The Black Hats are vulnerable again with only one good pace bowler.

I am not surprised because he was not on his best form.I think he sacrificed his international career because of IPL.He want to be part of IPL because it is highly payed job.
