Shall we upgrade to version 8?

    Hi,

Will all applications that ran on v7 run on v8? Will the code run faster in v8? Do you thinks its worth waiting to see if their are any security issues or is it 100% stable?

Of course we will test before, but always nice to hear user feedback!

    Thanks :)

It is a very valid question and I believe you know that you've already answered by saynng that you will indeed test.

Some functionality has been reintroduced. I would recommend testing on a development box and seeing how it goes, particularly for your existing applications. Also, pay attention to what it is that has changed or been added and see if there is really a benefit to upgrading RIGHT NOW. Of course, it is always better to wait, watch, and see. However, looking from the presentations on the site, the functionality is pretty wild - especially AJAX support.

    Greetings,

From what I have heard and read, coldfusion 8 is suppose to run seamlessly with coldfusion 7 code.

I recently downloaded the trial version of coldfusion 8 for my own computer just to see if my client's website would run on it. No problems at all.

I would test your website on your own computer before releasing it though. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

    Hope this helps.

    Sincerely,
    Travis Walters

If you have a slow site, it could be worth it for the speed increase. But unless you're looking to use the new functionality, save your money, and wait for all the kinks to be ironed out.
