Dear all, I've been advertising for 3 months, average CTR is 3~5% (among all ad groups), but no conversion at all. Thats why i revamp my landing page such as remove unneccessory navigation, put strong call to action, etc. My question is should i move all keywords and put in another New Ad Group? I am facing a dilemma here. a) If i move to a totally new Ad Group, the historical data of good CTR may erased and i need to start all over again. b) if i use the existing ad group and just change the destination URL, My minimum bid & Quality Score remain the same. Do you guys have any idea?
As you haven't had any conversions, I'd probably take the Ad with the highest CTR and make a copy of it, but the copy goes to your new landing page. The CTR should be similar, but the difference you are looking for is if the new landing page gets conversions. Also check out the analytics for things such as bounce rate between new landing page vs original landing page.
always set your destination URL at the keyword level. This way you can always preserve the text ad CTR history and still make unlimited landing page changes. If you change the text ad or more to a new adgroup, all history is lost.
Hi Robert, I've take your advice just change the destination URL. But the quality score still "OK" only. I want the QS to be "Great". I am very sure my tailor-made landing page is highly relevant with Ad Text & Keywords. But the quality score did not improve at all. FYI, i create the adgroup & keywords 2 months ago and change the destination URL 2 days ago. I've chat with G. Adwords Specialist but they just give me some general guideline, give me some links (which i've read many times already). Can i PM you the URL & keyword list? Perhaps you can have better understanding.
If your current QS is at OK and you want to improve it, landing page optimization is no longer an issue unless the google QS indicator says there is a landing page issue. If it say no problems found on landing page, then the only way to increase QS at this point is to increase CTR. Which means to write new text ads. Try this... Keep the current text ad that you have, if you have multiple, then just leave the best performing ad since its creation and delete all the rest. Then write a new text ad completely different than the previous. You should always be rotating 2 text ads at all times. Once the 2 text ads have receive a decent amount of volume, I would say a couple hundred clicks each, then delete the worse performing and write a new text ad again. It may take a few times, but eventually as CTR increases and you provide better messaging, QS will go to great. There are multiple levels of great as well, so don't stop when you get to great, keep up the optimization. Basically, the lower your min cpc required bid, the higher your QS is. Keep optimizing till you get it to .04 or .03 cents min requirement. At this point you should be paying much less per click and be positioned in higher spots at a fraction of the cost. hope this helps
