Well should I, im not really sure whether i should, im planning on it

But i just need clarification on one thing

    1) How much PR juice is actually lost by passing it on to others who post on my blog and leave a comment

    2) Will making it do follow naturally attract more visitors

keep a track of what links are being posted. that way you have a control of PR also.

do follow can attract spammers instead of visitors. Try linking to authority sites instead of just keeping it open to public.

    1. Your own page probably won't lose any pagerank due to it being dofollow. It will just devalue the pagerank passed on by other links on your blog. Still, I don't take chances with my blog and keep it nofollow.

    2. If you submit it to dofollow directories and search engines you can get a few extra visits. I know I am more prone to comment on dofollow blogs and actively search them out.

@phinelinda: linking to authority sites does absolutely nothing beneficial for your pagerank.

do follow will seriously increase your traffic but will also increase spam to your site, but providing you moderate well there's no problem.

What would you rather have PR or readers, and traffic? Build up some visitors and you can have both.

You could also try doing a top commentors section to allow the people who post the most to get a dofollow.

You could add some plugins (if use wordpress) which allow Dofollow for Active users, or after they post several quality comment in your blog

It's kinda true, dofollow blogs get more traffic because I guess people just seem the as being more generous but they also receive more spam. My biggest blog is dofollow and it receives a lot of spam, I have 3 plugins enabled just to keep most of it out. It's a great way to get real comments because a lot of people will comment on your articles just to get the backlink and that makes your blog look more active.

You shall make it as dofollow blog, basically the advantage is more traffic and the disadvantage is you might found quite number of spamming post and you need to sepnd some time to clean it up

Pretty much. Good plugins take care of most of the spam issue though.

Not only spammers look for dofollow. I have a limited amount of time I can spend reading blogs. If I have two equally good blogs I check regularly, one dofollow, one nofollow, I will normally spend more time on the dofollow blog. I might as well get some reciprocal for my time commenting.

Being a dofollow blog will not make up for poor content though. The only people that come back will be spammers if you don't have something worth reading.
