Hello again, Sure enough, I checked back at noon and 5 of the datacenters that reported the page at position #8 this morning are now showwing the page at position #20! You can view the updated table here... The datacenters "flip-flopping" are 216.239.39.99 216.239.37.104 216.239.37.147 216.239.37.99 216.239.39.104 I have also noted that a couple of times these datacenters have returned this particular page NOWHERE in the entire 700 some odd pages returned (yes I looked through the entire results)! Then if I hit search again, it pops back up. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with how Google works with datacenters... When you enter www.google.com into your browser and enter a keyword to search for and hit search - Google will access any one of a number of the different datacenters to return their results. So www.google.com may resolve to 216.239.39.99 on time then upon refresh it may go to 216.239.37.147. This is how you can get such different results from back to back searches. If anyone wants to varify this you can simply go to the Dos Prompt on your computer and enter... C:\WINDOWS>ping www.google.com <enter> you will get the reply something like... pinging www.google.akadns.net [216.239.39.99]... once it stops - hit the up arrow on your keyboard and then hit enter again and it will repeat the process. You most likely will see the reply coming from a different datacenter. It is for this very reason that I check all the datacenters when I am tracking the results for specific pages. It is also important to note that some tools such as Shawn's Keywordtracker will only search the first 100 results. If your page has fallen to position 101 or more it will not show up with some tools but that does not mean that it is not listed in Google. Shame on you Donna! Bob and I have decided that Google is NOT Broken it is indeed just "perfucked" BTW... Happy Birthday Donna!!! Caryl

<big grin> Thanks Caryl. I think maybe I'll get perfucked myself tonight when I go out to celebrate. hehe.
Useful information McDar! I did a search for 'Bulgaria villas' this morning, I was '4 refreshed and I'd disappeared off the page, checked the second page and whoa I was '11 refreshed again and I was '7 ... the results are certainly perfucked .... happy birthday Donna!
I'm still seeing major variations between DCs, as well. Most have me at #39, but a few show me around #75. The update began around 12/15/04. Can it still be in progress, or might this be an intentional randomization to keep most SEOs dazed and confused? The longer it lasts, the more it looks intentional.
I also think that there is some sort of "randomness" to the latest algo change. But who knows what Google is up to... All I know is that one of my sites never recovered.
my site and allinanchor dived about 20 spots across the board I have no idea why Did dazzlindonna come to any conclusions in the end? I have a forum amazon affiliate espotting affiliate other than that 100% OK
One thing I have noticed is the top 3 places are actually moving around now. Those spots seem to stay put for many months at a time, but now they move just like rest up and down. As long as we stay in those spots I will be happy. On KWP in particular we had been stuck at #3 is moving to #1 then #2 then back to #3 and around again, but has stayed in the top 3.
For my key words it seems G has settled down. I was around 30 before this update. I have moved up to 60 down to 10 and now I have settled down to around 30 again. The dec all say about they same thing now they were showing wildly different results for awhile. Anyone else see things settling down.
That's interesting because I have 1 page with Amazon affiliate links to a few books, but no I don't think anyone has a reason for this crazyness - I've just been through my site and doubled checked for duplicate content or anything that is out of the ordinary in the indexed pages in Google.
I was expecting that after the pr update some changes would be seen in the actual results. It really beats me that if I compare the results in the mcdar keyword tool why I'm not ranked higher. I really dont have a clue whats going on here. Please have a look at the image. This must be the sandbox, or could it be something else?
So has anyone received increased traffic via G? I still think with the over doubling of there IPO that they are at the bank laughing.
yup, in Google I don't see any changes at all at this time, I also see an increase on altvista and other minor engines. Looks like I am steping in on the SEO thing on the wrong, or maby interesting time.
Hello HansV, Looking over your results from the Keyword Analysis Tool, at first glance, I would have to admit it looks like a Pure case of "Sandbox"! However, one thing we are finding out in an experiment we have been running is that the pure number of links reported to a site is NOT a complete picture. It seems that 100 links from different IP addresses carry more much weight than 1000 links from one or two different IP addresses. Googles link:www.domain.com search is NOT very helpful these days as Lord knows what determines the links they choose to display in the results! So, you alone may be the only one to be able to answer this question. Google is reporting 2980 links to your site and looking over those links Google returned a very large number seem to be coming from one blog. How many of your 2980 links reported come from totally different websites (different IP addresses)? If we reduced links down to "different IP addresses with links to our sites", THAT may be a more telling picture these days. Caryl BTW - Google now "reports" 267 backlinks to our experiment page HOWEVER the actual number of links is greater than 1100! So, again, what we are seeing as the result of Google's Link: search these days can be very misleading.
