I can see that. Even to a degree I like going into San Fran. People are generally friendly. But there's so many areas that are non-essential to me,....that and parking horredous. It's terrible. If they improved that in any conceiveable way (without costing an arm and a leg), I would probably go there more often. Sounds nice, Ferret. I really like Sausalito, California....that's my ideal (if you wish to know). Very outdoorsy atmosphere. Women actually wear dresses, and kids play on the street. It's almost a small-town feel, but it has the smell of sophistication. The oceans right by...boats-a-plenty...surfing is kind of near....I don't know, it's just 'user-friendly'. It feels like home. Unfortunately you can't really fly all that much around the bay....the weather is very restrictive here. Although I plan to do tour flight around here for a while....at one point. I'm a fan of latin women....always have always will. That's what I indentify in my head when I think of miami beach. Barely dressed-up--big breasted...latin women.
Actually, I'm not big on the students protesting to remove recruiters from campus. First off, they have many avenues to protest and/or articulate their disagreement with the war. Removing recruiters limits one element of free speech, an essential part of American and Western freedom. Two universities take in a lot of government funding. In that regard its somewhat hipocritical of the universities to take the actions. There have been two periods when protesting an American war went violent domestically; one was Vietnam and the other was the Civil War. During the Vietnam war there was similar across the board American unhappiness with the war as time went on. The enormous difference was that a draft was in effect. Young people's lives were on the line. Students had draft deferments which ran out with finishing school. The only ways out included manipulation of the system, physical deferments, being a conscientious objector, moving to Canada or some other way to avoid the draft and service in Vietnam. The other time was during the Civil War. This was largely lost in history and only fairly recently brought back to light by research into old newspaper reports. At that time the poor Irish immigrants revolted within New York City as the then draft allowed escaping the draft with some payment and substitution of another person. The poor Irish immigrants rebelled and rioted in NYC and were ultimately put down by units of the Northern Army. both protests during Vietnam and the Civil War saw significant violence and major discord. I lived through the Vietnam period. Today, its not even close to the same. Don't want to go into the military and fight in Iraq....don't join the military. Find something else to do. There is no need to try and ban recruiters on college campuses, at least in my view. On the other hand I don't want to see the military hit up on high schools for teenagers. Give those kids more options. At least that is one person's opinion.
take the bart, driving in SF is stupid actually driving is stupid in general, haivng to drive everywhere sucks its pretty awesome, coral reef is like 3 miles from shore, in the summer the water is like 80 degrees, you can spearfish and catch lobster. you would probably hate the hippies and boat people. There is all these people who live on sailboats and just come to shore on little dingies, my friend calls them sea bums Everyone rides bikes and mopeds everywhere oh no marin county, I hung out with a girl from there for awhile. too cold , the ocean is freezing and no coral reef the view of miami from the beach at night is awesome, tons of latin woman, tons of plastic surgery, actually tons of rediculously hot chicks, its cool to visit but I like rock music, not into fashion. Everything revolves around bars and clubs, at least it seems that way. Dudes, wear like tight ass jeans and little pointy boots in like million degree summer weather
For you maybe, but I had to take an hour long drive to my flight instructor...and it was cancelled. No way I would take any form of public transit for a much longer-period of time. Although they did have a very good reason not to fly that day. Plane crash...if you look hard enough, you'll find some people just died from a small plane crash (around my area). I vaguely knew them, but my instructor was a long-time friend of the head-instructor...whom died. Hippies, maybe. Boat people, nah. I could understand a sort of lifestyle like that. Hip-hop was never my thing, either...except turntablism. Latin women tend to like hip-hop or their 'native' dances. Works for me, though.
Rick, here's a great rock/rap music video called "Open Season." It's actually pretty catchy and patriotic.
I really don't like political music, though. Listened to it, but ehh....not my style. I like how they dance around with the guitars....not emulating a single note....lmao.
