Hello there, I just had two ads in the same group appearing on my site as: Plus Size Sexy Lingerie, and Men's Magazines. The keyphrases and then the final content doesn't really leave good impression - since there is no relevancy between my (business) and the advertisers is there a possibility that SEs will recognize them as bad neighborhoods in this case? I'm not sure if Sexy Lingerie and Men's Magazines are considered to be safe for kids too... who knows what kind of links those guys can have... May be this kind of content should go separatly from general business?
SE's don't deem a site part of a "bad neighborhood" if they sell mens magazines or lingerie...it's based on their linking habits.
No. Selling lingerie or mens magazines does not make a website a "bad neighborhood" I don't see why either of these things would be unsafe for kids. Did you click on the links and check out the sites? As long as the lingerie site does not show nudity, there should not be a problem. And, "mens magazines" doesn't automatically mean porn. There are tons of mens magazines that are suitable for advertising in the coop (http://dir.yahoo.com/Society_and_Culture/Cultures_and_Groups/Men/Magazines/).[/QUOTE] Perhaps we should have a "shopping" category?
I am not saying they are "bad neighborhoods", and I know that men's magazines aren't automatically porn and even porn sites might not be bad neighborhoods either, but in content theming I don't know how things can affect each other. As far as where those web sites can lead I wouldn't know unles I click on all their links.., but you probably know that some sexy langeries might exidently lead to "good boobs vs bad boobs" and funky "cloun porn" I'm just saying if some content might not be suitable for children or business audience (well, google doesn't do much about their blogger full of porn spam where kids at the same time blogging about their kittycats and only one step away from clicking next blog).. and trying to see what other think about it. May be I'm wrong. ..btw, Summer, the Y! directory page you left link to contains word "sex" at least 8 times. Don't get me wrong, I don't have kids and I'm only 25, so I'm very much into it I'm just trying to look at it from my visitors and SEs side.
So you didn't click on the links that were shown on your website? From what I understand, the coop ads are reviewed before they go live, so if they led to questionable sites, they wouldn't have been approved. Not from my lingerie site. There is no way to click onto my personal blog from my business sites. But, if you're worried about content 10 clicks down the road, you may want to flee the internet business . Well, the coop doesn't allow porn, gambling, spam or drug sites, so I think that is a strict enough guideline. If your business is very straight laced, then I would suggest not using the coop & get out there and pay for some advertising . Right...And how many business people and children do you think visit the Y! directory each day?
Yes, I did click on the links, but I wasn't exploring any further since the content was understood from the start. Well, I don't want to blow a huge deal about it, just thought there were people that might think similar to myself, I guess not
not that I agree or disagree with anything else said in this thread but: I know there are a good bunch of people who have opted to wait on usingthe co-op until there are some sort of themes/categories. It's not that I 'don't approve' of lingerie or a lingerie site or such things, but having it linked from the footer of a - church website, Day Care center website, or childrens entertainment website - for example would be a bit of an innappropriate endorsement - hehe So - for us its not a matter of complaining about the circumstance (which we might if we were active co-op members) its more a matter of, we understnd the circumstances, and choose to lose out on the great benefits of the co-op rather than have to deal with that.
