To whom it may concern Before I pursue actions from the Department of Labor for wage discrimination based on "sex discrimination" I am here today to remedy the situation before I take further actions. I have been employed by this company for nearly three years now. During this time I have not only felt that the women where treated with greater priority than the males but the discrimination based on such is effecting pay compensation which if you are unaware of the equal pay act of 1964 which states the following No employer having employees subject to any provisions of this section [section 206 of title 29 of the United States Code] shall discriminate, within any establishment in which such employees are employed, between employees on the basis of sex by paying wages to employees in such establishment at a rate less than the rate at which he pays wages to employees of the opposite sex in such establishment for equal work on jobs[,] the performance of which requires equal skill, effort, and responsibility, and which are performed under similar working conditions, except where such payment is made pursuant to (i) a seniority system; (ii) a merit system; (iii) a system which measures earnings by quantity or quality of production; or (iv) a differential based on any other factor other than sex [ . . . . ] [2] ( Source Wikipedia ) When I first brought up rasies and why mine was lower than the females employeed that have worked for similar length of time and whos job is substantial equal in work as well as responsibilities I was told the following by our current GM at the time "Raises where based on merits." At that time I thought I didn't have a chance until furthur research. It turns out that in order to base raises on merits it has to be established to the entire company on what is required in order to quailfy for the "merit raise". So, to continue more. After my first year here I was told I would recieve a one weeks paid vacation. I confirmed this with my GM and he told me I was guaranteed.. "GUARANTEED" to be paid my vacation pay, as I wouldn't have went on vacation without it. When I returned I quickly found out that I would not recieve my vacation pay due to my enligiability for it. This was understandable until I discovered the same thing happened to my other co-worker and she was told she was enligable for paid vacation as well. But, being the kind loving person that our GM was ( sarcasm ) she said she had to cry in front of them to get the paid vacation So here I am ineligible for paid vacation and having written post-dated checks in antecipation of my vacation pay ( Which was guaranteed) needless to say the checks bounced, and until this day I have yet to remedy that situation due to the over whelming amount of fees that I incurred due to the situation of being lied to. Most recently I discovered not by asking question but by someone stopping me in the middle of the parking lot and complaining about how a new girl who has not worked there more than 6 months received a raise which was far greater than my own. Now, I have asked for raises and I even asked why I was denied a raise and why the females that request a raise received one while I was denied I got no valid response. Until this very day female employees are not only paid more, they are given higher prioty in requested days as well as other lienencies and if this isn't sex discrimination please explain to me what is.?
