Several sites ranked in top 10 for a week, no nowhere to be found?

I started several new niche websites that had very little competition. I built anywhere from 4-5 links for each, and I was ranked in the top 10 in the first 3 days.

Now after about a week, 90% of the sites are nowhere to be found for their search terms. They are still indexed, but that's about it.

What's going on, and what can I do?

I've seen the same often, just keep building natural links and your ranks will improve again.

Google likes fresh content. Thats why sometimes you might notice if you have a new post on your blog or something, your position might get bumped up a few slots. =o And then after a couple of days or so, you'll slide back down.

So what, should I just rewrite my page every week? There is absolutely no competition for the keywords, my domain IS the keywords, and I'm not in top 100, and I used to be #2.

    Just keep building links/content etc...

Google will just give you a little boost usually for new content, and since you said theres absolutely no competition in the niche, it boosted you quite a-ways.

You need to get some link juice. If the keywords are not very competitive add 2-3 links a week and take it slow.

You have to build links continuously. Its a never ending process. Also do you interlink your sites with one another? If you do, put a nofollow to every outgoing link so that they cant pass PR. Hope this helps. cheers.

Google saw your site as a new trend and ranked it under the assumption it was going to grow at the same or a quicker rate, then after seeing the site wasn't growing as much as they though, they moved it down. Just keep plugging away and you'll get there with a more permanent position.

New sites get a temporary "New content" boost. And they rank well in search results but only for few days.

Build lots of back links in order to get back your sites in search results
