Setting up Subdomains using plsek, DNS issues

I am setting up some subdomains using Plesk.

I created them without problem. Going to the subdomain (subdomain.mysite.com) on the web, I get a page load error "address not found."

"The browser could not find the host server for the provided address."

I think I need to edit the DNS record for the subdomain but I am not sure what values to use. I have setup subdomain.mysite.com and I want that subdomain to have different content from my homepage at mysite.com.

Do I need to edit the A Record or CNAME record? And if so, what values are needed?

For A Record is asks for domain name & IP address

For CNAME it asks for domain name and canonical name (CNAME).

I should also add that the subdomains will not redirect, they will just point to different content on the same server as the main domain :)

    Hi,

Generally the sub-domains should have a A record pointing to the same IP address as the www record or the record.

What strikes me as odd is that Plesk should be setting up these entries for your automatically if you are using Plesk as the name-server. If you are not then you will have to configure the zone manually as above.
