I'm trying to set up Thunderbird to manage my mail. My email address is with 1and1.com.. where do I get my incoming and outgoing server address for it?
Tools > Account Settings > at the bottom of the scroll box is the outgoing SMTP settings You should have been asked for your incoming server when you added your email account. If not, it also in the same scroll panel in the account settings window. --- EDIT : If you mean WHAT are you incoming and outgoing servers, then your incoming server is 1and1.com, and your outgoing server is generally whatever your ISP is. Ask them for their SMTP server. Probably something like mail.yourISP.com.
I know how to add it to Thunderbird, I just need to know where to get my incoming and outgoing server address to add to Thunderbird.
I don't understand. http://www.faq.1and1.com/e_mail/set...ook_outlook_express_and_netscape_mail_/1.html
ah ok. I thought your owned the domain. Just use these: Incoming Server: pop.1and1.com (port 110) Outgoing Server: smtp.1and1.com (port 25 or 587)
I do own my domain. I've been reading my mail in my mail account that came with my hosting. I simply want to setup an imap email client with Thunderbird. None of this works. It says incorrect password or it couldn't connect...
Mkay, I figured out how to do it. But how do I leave Thunderbird running and recieve alerts without having it open? There's no point in the alert feature if it has to be open to get the alerts.
Yeah I think you need to leave it open for it to check your email every *** minutes. You can minimize it to your tray though. http://minimizetotray.mozdev.org/
