Okay, so I am in the process of setting up a few separate blogs and forums for specific themes. Petty good domain names, so they are easy to remember. I know the sitemaps and S.E. submission, but what else can i do that really works and starts to bring in users?

    1.) Write good content
2.) Get yourself a clean design and a good logo and slogan.
3.) Use SEO friendly URL's ( If you are on wordpress- change the default permalinks)
4.) Do some link exchanges with related sites.
5.) Buy some advertising and links if you have money.
6.) Submit to social bookmarking sites like Digg, Propeller and Stumbleupon.
7.) Comment on other people's blogs.

Just a small list, but it should be good enough for you to start with.

Thanks for the tips. Sounds like starting point. If someone can tell me how to get slashdotted, that would be grand.
