    Hi,
    I am trying to setup clean url in hostgator. But its not working in default setup. Can anyone help me on this issue.

    Ask your hosting provider to enable mod_rewrite for Apache.

    Just try this and see if it works for you.
    Access your file manager and upload the .htaccess file in the public_html directory(if its the directory you are using for this website).It will ask you whether to overwrite the file or not ? select to overwrite the file and then try to enable clean urls from admin section of your website.
    I have tried this method many times on different websites and it works( atleast for me).
    Theres no harm in trying if your website is not live.
