Setting up Dedicated Server

    Hey Guys
    I have purchased a dedicated Server from Vrtservers.net but support sux ..
    When i login in FTP I see only 1 domain which is not mine it is fake.

    I told them that i created 2 name servers ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com which is pointing to 1 IP that they provided me.
    Still my site shows cannot find server.. now when i told them this issue they are telling me this

    "For rDNS (reverse DNS)/ PTR record, please let us know the IP and your desire sub/domain.For forward DNS/A record, it is customer responsible to configure."

    Can anyone tell me how do i configure Fwd DNS/A record. I have booked domain with Godaddy for $7.99

    just purchased?

    then registering nameservers/hostname itself take up to 72 hours

    and if you change nameserver of domains that is also up to 72 hours

    jsut wait it take time for hostnames and namesevrers to get resolved worldwide.
    Just be patient :)

    Do you have a controlpanel with your dedicated server? What they say are true. Reverse PTR IPs are done by them you need to give them for eg name.yourdomain.name reverse to which IPs, this will be done by their side. The forward pointing is done by you in the server. If you have a controlpanel for eg Directadmin or Cpanel, it would be a breeze. If not ask them if they can install for you at a cost?

    i dont have any control panel, i need to ask them to install, they have webmin for free, and Helm for $20 which is better ?

    Is yours a linux or windows server? If Linux Cpanel or Directadmin would be great, if Windows Helm is ok, webmin is for linux and is not that easy to use even though it is a controlpanel

    Try to get Directadmin, it should be much cheaper than Cpanel and much easier to use than webmin.
