setting up an intranet webserver -- stupid question

I'm a little green behind the ears when it comes to server administration, so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question.

If you set up an LAN server (say, for printer/file sharing and an invoice system through php and mysql), what needs to be done to prevent internet access to this server? I just don't even know where to begin researching security.

Is it possible to edit htaccess with something along the lines of:

    Deny from all
    Allow from 192.168

Should you just block port 80 on the firewall?

Or am I just barking up the wrong tree?

If there's no reason for people to access this Intranet Apache installation from the Internet, yes keep it blocked at the firewall.

Judging by the way you wanted to deny from all but 192.~ I'm guessing there's no reason for anyone to connect from the Internet.
