I am trying to set up a ftp account to a directory on one of my sites with c-panel and it seems to set up ok, but when i test the log in with ftp it does not seem to work.

Can some one give me a little in site on how to do this or if their is another way.

    Thanks

I'm not 100% sure I'm understanding your question correctly, but it seems to me the last time I tried to set up an FTP account within one of my Cpanel accounts (other than the standard ones that are set up for the account when it's set up), it put them into it's own unique sub directory of the site.

In other words, when I set up 'usernameB' as the login for the new FTP, it only allowed access to www.mydomain.com/usernameB, not to the main directory of mydomain.com.

Seems to me that's what I remember happening anyway--I do know that I quickly gave up and just sent the main FTP username and password to the person who I was trying to set it up for...

Hope that helps some...although I guess it's not really a solution...

say you login ftp (main account) under yoursite.com + username + password, you should be able to login with the newly setup account (sometime it can take a while before it lets you.

have you read the cpanel docs?

some sites setup the username with just a name, like "user"

Others need you to insert an @ and the domain, so the username ends up looking like "user@yourdomain.com", you need to make sure you are using the correct one

Cpanel comes with documents? Oh man...:D

I tend to do stuff online just like I drive and build assemble it yourself furniture--no directions or instructions until I've messed things up on my own a few times...

Thanks for the input though--I'll have to go back in and try to set up some more FTP accounts at some point.
