Setting Up a streaming site HELP NEEDED SERVER ISSUES

    Hi,

    Iam about to make a site where i would like to upload online streaming where there will be movies from free lancer and free videos. Please advice me which hosting server i should get and what specs should be for the server????

    Any Suggestion????????

    I'd recommend Softlayer something like this to start

    If you know you're gonna have a ton of connections you may want to go with something more beefy :

    Additionally their Content Delivery Network will allow your users to get the streaming video from a POP that is geographically close to them and will allow you to use a lesser server as it's only serving and answering requests from the POPs which cache your videos.

    A Decent Dedicated Server would cost about above $200 per month. If you can pay that much, go ahead.

    Else, Start Small, Go for an VPS.

    Provided you are going to be consuming a large amount of bandwidth, perhaps a dedicated server with an unmetered connection would be ideal. I know ThePlanet has them starting around $99 with not much horsepower, good as a starter content delivery server (I would think).
