Setting up a monthly payment subscription on PayPal

Someone wants me to set them up with a monthly payment subscription for a text link on my site. I can find plenty in the help pages on WHAT paypal can do but not how to do it.

I don't want to set up a monthly payment button on my site. I just want to set up monthly subscriptions on an individual basis. Does anyone know how I do this?

    Thanks in advance.

Just create a temporary html file and place the button. Then after someone has subscribed it,remove the file.

    Thanks for the suggestion, Richie.

I think I'll just ask them to send the first payment in the normal way and send them reminders myself each month.

Well if I set one up now while it's a PR4 and later it's PR goes up, can I easily change the fee or do I have to set up a new one reflecting the new costs?

You can actually create a paypal subscription link which you could send out in an email.... you should select NO for encryption when creating your subscription button and you will be provided the code to include in an email.

As for varying the subscription amount. You can increase the amount as long you decide on the increase and the timing of the increase at the time you create your button. I don't think it's possible to vary the by an amount yet to be determined at frequencies yet to be determined. If you need to change the amount at a later date then you will need to cancel the old subscription and create a new one.

    Hope this helps

You should cancel the previous one and set up a new one :)

I'm sure theres a button under Merchant Accounts, for re-occuring charges...just enter the details and away you go - SET & FORGET

If you need a link rather than a button, select "no" encryption (it's on "yes" by default), and it will give you the link on the following page.
