    Hi

I am trying to setup a blog for my wordpress website so in order to do this I am trying to create a static homepage as my site currently doesn’t have one.

Now obviously this would be easy if I could select my homepage under settings > reader > front page displays. But as my website was setup by someone else, for some reason, the homepage is not available in the dropdown.

So...to get around this I have created a new page called ‘home’ which I want to use as the static page. But since creating this new page I currently have 2 ‘home’ pages displaying in my navigation bar. Also, the new homepage is obviously not displaying as my homepage should. I have tried deleting some code in the header.php file, which removes the additional ‘home’ from the navigation menu but the new page doesn’t display as my home page should.

I hope this makes sense to someone? If anyone has some advice on how to get this blog setup it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Will

You don't have to use a page there, use a post - that way there won't be another link displayed in the navbar.
