Setting <title> tags for homepage in Joomla?

I'm new to Joomla, so this might be dumb, but I can't figure out how to write the <title> tag on the home page in a Joomla site, without changing the site navigation at the same time.

Can someone tell me how this is done, and keep the main navigation title as "home"?

Admin Section => Menus > Main Menu > Home > Parameters
Change the title to whatever text you want to keep.

 

I tried your recommendations, but the only place I see to change the title is in the menu item details, not in the parameters. It does change the title tag, but it also changes the link in the left side navigation from "Home" to Denver Electric.

In the parameters menu, I don't see where to change the title. I've tried the titles under the "component" area, but no success. Seems like the only place that affects the <title> is the menu item?

If you are using Joomla 1.5.x you can change the homepage title by doing the following:

If you haven't loaded any plugins goto Menus->Main Menu click on Home and then goto Parameters(System) The pagetitle field should be present.

the parameters are on the right hand side and you'll need to click on Parameters(System) to expand the options.

If it is not there, you might not be using Joomla 1.5.x which I would say you should upgrade to 1.5

 

Install sh404sef plugin. It does everything whatever you need to do with <title>.
