How do you guys set goals for yourselves? Do you make a long term plan and wing it along the way, or do you make lots of little goals and see where you end up? A combination of both? I've found that I haven't been very clear in the goals I set for myself or my website (http://www.dormwise.com) which means that after about a month of really intense work, I haven't got too much to show for it (I have a strong site but no visitors). So my goal for this month is to have 1000 uniques (lame I know, but I've got to start somewhere!) - I need about 40 visitors a day in the next six days to achieve that, perfectly manageable but I'll need to focus my energy pretty well to make sure that happens. How do you guys set and measure goals?
Not so lame, Keep up the persistence, your on the right track. Make dead lines for your self and complete them on time. Happy Networking, Karl
I set goals by time. Long term, like retirement many years from now. Medium term, like college, a few years. For web sites it is day by day, slow and steady. Oh, and when a goal expires I set a new one.
I set lots of little goals along the way with the bigger picture in the back of my head. For example, I am going full time from October - February this year. Today I brainstormed articles that I can write for a single section of my site and I came up with 178 possibilities, hopefully I can complete them some day
little goals. once you achieve the goal, set another one slightly higher eventually, with enough time and patience, your next 'little' goal will hopefully be what your 'big' goal would be right now. that's my thinking at least. prevents me from getting a head of myself (sometimes!).
