Set geographic target: Should I do it?

    Hi,

I just found the "Set geographic target" in Google Webmaster Tools.

I am considering doing this for a city guide I work on. The city guide is obviously a local geography, but visitors come from all over the world.

I am wondering if I set my geographical target if it will hurt my search ranking in other countries. Is it wise for me to set it or not?

Also, I tried to search for this in the forum, but DP's search is super slow and kept timing out.

Yeah, I have wondered about this too.

I get a lot of traffic from Canada and GB. If I specify "USA", am I going to get less traffic from these countries?
I ended up leaving it blank. In Webmaster Tools, right?

So, the question is, "Is our overall traffic significantly reduced, by "limiting" (defining) our geographic location?

    Yeah, in Webmaster Tools.

Same thing, I'm worried if I put one locale it will get penalized in others, so I also left it blank.
