I'm moving into a dedicated server and doing some shopping, but keeping in mind quality and support. Found this seam to be to good to be true? Dual Core Special 3.4GHz Intel PD, Dual Core, 3.4GHz, 2x2Mb Cache, 1024MB (1GB) RAM, 250GB SATA Hard Drive, 2,000GB Monthly Transfer, 4 IP Addresses Starting $99 Monthly fee and No Setup fee • Dedicated Server Special 3.2GHz Intel Pentium-4, 3.2GHz, 1024MB RAM, 160GB SATA Hard Drive, 2,000GB Monthly Transfer, 4 IP Addresses Starting $79 Monthly fee and No Setup fee This is from HOSTIK I don't know any about them, do you? and their colocation seam to be cheaper than others, and thought that I might be the way to go also, for cheaper monthly rate, big cost upfront though. Thanks for input.
I had that same server almost but with 2GB of RAM.. Pentium D processor sucks for servers; mine was always down. If you're going to go for a cheap dual-core server, choose Intel Core 2 Duo as your processor or AMD dual-core processors (anything 4000+ will be just fine for you)..
Thanks for the info, do you know anything about the company. Are they worth moving and buying the deal if I move to the upper server.
Well, nothing strange that P-D's are outdated these days, but they still pack in enough punch for many applications (even a well optimized celeron box can outdo a pentium4). EGS, blaming the CPU for your box being down isn't the good way to solve things...I wonder if it's well optimized.
